Whether you are energized or frightened by the prospect of a Trump Presidency, you got his full message.
And a lot of people who have not been listening to the fact that our immigration mess is burgeoning because both parties want open borders got a lot of very frightening facts about sanctuary cites, releases of dangerous criminals into our cities, and the prospect of huge future immigrant intakes which are unregulated and unenforced.
The pundits led the morning after with arguments about whether Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto said they discussed a wall which Trump again promised in his address to build on the US southern border, but which Trump said they did not discuss. In my view, SO WHAT?
Trump’s speech clearly said he would build it and get Mexico to pay for it, but the latter statement now seems very questionable. Again, SO WHAT?
Whether you hate Trump or not, the mass media in America, like the President and the Congress, are hugely influenced by the power structures of both major parties.
And, Folks, that long-standing and dangerous fact has obscured the telling of the true immigration crisis for far too long.
While Trump has faltered with many on many other issues, his immigration speech of 8/31/16 will resonate with more and more; particularly in his upcoming Presidential debates with Hillary Clinton.
The mass media’s lack of candor about our immigration mess and the constant failure of the media and world leaders to relate the huge population growth to global warming make a moderate political observer such as me very concerned about the future of human life on our planet.
Trump is right that if we don’t fix our immigration mess we will soon not have a country that anyone born as I was 85 years ago, can remember. Perhaps the greed and fecklessness of many will combine to again say, SO WHAT?
In my opinion a key question to ask is, do we enforce our laws using the Founders enlightened system of balancing power or not?
Clearly Trump is profoundly wrong to dismiss global warming or to keep bleating for the repeal of Obama care, but his clarion call for real immigration reform will ring true for many outside his core supporters. Are you listening, Mrs. Clinton?
