The Scars of Lancaster County

For over three years the citizens of Lancaster County have been fighting the construction of a natural gas pipeline that will literally cut through the entirety of the county.  The purpose of the pipeline will be to transport fracked gas pulled from the fields in northern Pennsylvania and ship it to LNG terminals in Philadelphia where it will be loaded on ships and sent to Europe.

On a really cold morning in February and few of us went out to document in pictures and video the havoc wreaked by the Atlantic Sunrise Pipeline Construction. Yes, it will all be covered over once the pipe is in the ground. But then what… .? Methane leakage; pollution of streams and wells from unintended leaks; and not to mention the all too real possibility of an explosion anywhere along the line.
