| Dear All:
As this is my first newsletter to you in 2024, I’ll begin by wishing you a happy and prosperous new year! Last June I wrote about holding U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas accountable for his willful loss of control over our southern border. I called for his impeachment. On Wednesday, the Committee on Homeland Security, chaired by Mark Green (R-TN), held a hearing on the matter, titled “Havoc in The Heartland: How Secretary Mayorkas’ Failed Leadership Has Impacted The States.” The hearing’s rhetoric was of course partisan. Republicans pointed to facts that justified Mayorkas’ impeachment and the Democrats, in unison, claimed it was a witch hunt. Ranking Member Bennie Thompson (D-MS) went so far as to say, “the facts show Secretary Mayorkas is doing his job across all the Department’s many critical homeland security missions, including border security and immigration enforcement.” With twelve appropriations bills needing to be passed and signed into law between now and the end of February, the next thirty days should be very interesting for political junkies. The major concern will be if Mike Johnson, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, can ward off omnibus packages or even “mini” omnibus packages from being passed. Kevin Lynn |

Hundreds of 1000s chasing 700 jobs. Why then do we need to import 85,000 H-1B Visa holders each year?! Professor Ron Hira of Howard University sums up the absurdity: “more than 100,000 US computer science grads in 2023; 100,000 new H-1B and Optional Practical Training guestworkers, all chasing 700 net new jobs!”
