Dear All:
This week, former hedge fund director Eric Weinstein said, “in the absence of real growth, everything turns pathological.” And that’s exactly where the U.S. finds itself as we face rising inflation, a shrinking labor force and labor participation rates, crippling household and national debt, a crumbling infrastructure, and an out-of-control southern border. These problems are destroying our productive classes and what’s worse, the institutions we rely upon are unable to adapt or are embracing a bizarre range of social justice priorities.
Nothing bears greater witness to this than New York City. Over a year ago, Mayor Eric Adams boasted that as a sanctuary city, it’s open to welcoming immigrants regardless of how they entered the country. Last week when I visited I was struck by what New York City is doing to address basic migrant needs, even ensuring migrant children make it to school in the morning. I ask you, would local governments do that for their own most vulnerable citizens and at-risk youth? It’s little wonder "the natives are getting restless." Policy decisions matter!
The rhetoric of the open border community is fueled by myths that have little or no grounding in reality which is why I encourage you to read Joe Guzzardi’s latest column and watch Howard University professor Ron Hira’s testimony on how the H-1B visa is being used to displace American workers.
Last, check out my podcast with GraceTime TV Live on employment visas and how immigration policy is being used to muscle Americans out of jobs.
In Solidarity.

Senate Hearing on Immigration and Economic Growth
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D) RI erroneously stated “immigration is a powerful tool in our tool kit” and expanding lawful immigration will “grow our workforce, productivity and economy.” These falsehoods have been echoed by open border advocates like Senator Alex Padilla (D) CA and Professor Britta Glennon, University of Pennsylvania. In fact, Glennon believes reducing H-1B visa workers “sends jobs to other countries.” Nothing is further from the truth. For starters, H-1B visa workers here in the U.S. provide the “knowledge transfer” link that enables ever more offshoring.
Moreover, we’ve heard from many Fortune 500 managers that when departments are heavily staffed with H-1B visa workers, innovation and productivity decline.
Fortunately, Sen. Mike Lee (R) UT, Robert Rector of Heritage Foundation and Dr. Ron Hira, Howard University were present to set the record straight.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R) SC: Mr. Hira, do you want more H-1B visas? Prof. Hira: No, I have argued for a better system. Right now to give you an example, we had 700,000 applications for 85,000 slots. But instead of picking the 85,000 top applicants, they chose to pick them randomly.
Sen. Lindsey Graham: I am with you.
Sen. Lindsey Graham: Do you think we should have more visas available in this space?
Prof. Hira: No!
. . . .
Sen. Lindsey Graham: My question is, are we generating enough workers in our own country to fill these jobs?
Prof. Hira: Absolutely!
Sen. Lindsey Graham: The why do we need a visa program?
