Green Gone Wrong

Dear All:

In “Green Gone Wrong: How Our Economy Is Undermining the Environmental Revolution”, Heather Rogers asserts we’re reacting to environmental crises in ways our economic and political structures deem least threatening to the status quo.  In short, our response to environmental degradation is enlightened consumerism vs. strategic and tactical restraint!

This helps explain the current popular solution for combating climate change; buy an electric vehicle and replace fossil fuels with solar and wind generation schemes that have timelines bordering on the fantastic.

I wonder how automakers would greet subsidies for car repairs that keep vehicles driving for another ten years? Or, how the National Association of Realtors would respond to limiting sprawl and urging moves to densely populated areas?  And how the Biden administration would react to the realization that encouraging immigration to countries with a high ecological footprint like ours, makes no sense.

Heather Rogers is an acclaimed journalist, author and recipient of prestigious awards, so she’s no slouch.  Nor are Bill Rees and Michael Axelrod, who I recently interviewed.

Michael Axelrod and I explored the physics of electric vehicles and Bill Rees answered, “did climate change kill the ecological movement?” I encourage you to scroll down and watch both podcasts.

Texas legislature passes a bill making it unlawful to enter the country illegally. Imagine that! Read More
Department of Justice (DOJ) fined Apple $25 million for discriminating against American workers in favor of foreigners. Given Apple “enjoyed profits of about $100 billion in 2022,” this is less than a slap on the wrist. Further, it signals the DOJ has no interest in deterring these abuses.  Read More

Our leaders are at it again, unable to do enough to hurt American workers. Sens. Cramer and Durbin (D-IL) are sponsoring legislation to import 25,000 foreign trained doctors and 15,000 nurses.

Cyber-attacks are back in the news.

Mr. Cooper, previously known as Nationstar Mortgage LLC, which had 304 continuing and initial H-1B visas approved in the last 10 years, recently suffered one. Bank of America and other banks that handle ACH payments have also been attacked. Bank of America had over 70,000 H-1B visa petitions approved in the past 10 years and is reported to have 23,000 people working in its global business centers in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Gurugram and Chennai. According to Reuters, “the issue [ACH payments] could be stemming from The Clearing House, a core payments system infrastructure owned by some of the largest commercial banks in the world.” In addition to Bank of America, other affected institutions include JP Morgan, Chase, Truist Financial and U.S. Bancorp, and all are highly subscribed to the H-1B visa program.

Question: how secure is our financial data from end to end when it’s handled by foreign workers?

These 8 Republicans voted against Rep Greene's Mayorkas impeachment push:
'Not a high crime or misdemeanor'
And yet, eight Republican Congressmen overturned an attempt to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas — Ken Buck (CO), Darrell Issa, Tom McClintock, John Duarte (CA), Patrick McHenry, Virginia Fox (NC), Cliff Bentz (OR), Mike Turner (OH) — and not one Democrat sees a need to impeach him. The reason FWD.us supports another lame attempt to get the EAGLE Act across the finish line is because Todd Schultze, the organization’s leader and his parents, were harassed to no end by the Indian H-1B supporters of the bill.

The bill ensures Indian citizens enjoy a monopoly over all other nationals in the distribution of employment-based Green Cards, discriminating in favor of one group and rewarding employers who displace American white-collar workers in favor of cheaper foreign visa workers from India.

However, sleep tight America. It was introduced in the Senate because it will never get to the floor of the House.
