| Dear All: In a time of increasing turmoil the familiar landmarks dotting our political landscape and the boundaries that once kept us in our various political, economic and ideological tribes are becoming unrecognizable and blurring. It reminds me of “I Feel The Earth Move” sung by Carole King and James Taylor. “I feel the Earth move under my feet, At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) I was stunned to bump into former Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich, founder of Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) and a 2004 presidential candidate. Like me, he’s realized he no longer has a home in the Democratic Party. He’s also come around to my long-held views on immigration. When asked about the southern border, by Jimmy Dore and Steve Bannon, he’s responded “SEAL IT!” . Another luminary with an immigration about face is Princeton University Professor Emeritus and 2015 Nobel Prize winner in Economics, Angus Deaton: “I used to subscribe to the near consensus among economists that immigration to the US was a good thing, with great benefits to the migrants and little or no cost to domestic low-skilled workers. I no longer think so. . . Longer-term analysis over the past century and a half tells a different story.” Even ultra-leftist Senator John Fetterman (PA-D) is seen as questioning the Biden administration’s open border policy: “Now he’s taken an equally confrontational position on immigration, joining the ongoing discussions about a potential border security bill in the Senate by admonishing liberals to concede that conditions at the boundary between the U.S. and Mexico constitute a crisis.” Politically, economically, and socially things are changing, and the pace will only increase. According to the time of the Fourth Turning, this is all expected, and to paraphrase, here’s a lyric from the movie Paint Your Wagon: “Where am I going?

President Biden delivered his State of The Union (SOTU) address last week, and our fingers were burning up the keyboards launching posts on social media. We were watching a train crash in slow motion; however, the spin doctors of mainstream media saw it differently as Matt Taibbi covered in his blog post titled, State TV Slobbers Over State of the Union.
Allocating grants provided by the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) & Science Act passed by the last congress may be running into unforeseen hurdles and some of them have nothing to do with logistics and production. Immigration, trade, commerce, espionage and national security intersect, here. “Prosecutors accused Linwei Ding, who was part of the team that designs and maintains Google’s vast A.I. supercomputer data system, of stealing information about the “architecture and functionality” of the system, and of pilfering software used to “orchestrate” supercomputers “at the cutting edge of machine learning and A.I. technology.” Read More |

Doctors Without Jobs brings attention to the unfairness of foreigners getting matched to a residency over U.S. doctors. The 2024 Residency Match results are in and worse than the year before: American doctors who graduated from U.S. medical schools in 2024, who didn’t match: 1,290 or 6.5% up from 1,250 or 6.3% in 2023. American doctors who graduated from U.S. medical schools in prior, who didn’t match: 902 or 54.3% up from 857 or 52% in 2023. American doctors who graduated from international medical schools in 2024, who didn’t match: 1,570 or 33% down slightly from 1,607 or %32.4% in 2023. Foreign trained doctors who got residencies at U.S. teaching hospitals: 5,864 or 58.5% up from 5,032 or 59.4% in 2023. Our tax dollars pay for these residencies. Why are out tax dollars going to train foreign doctors rather than American and lawful permanent resident doctors? |
