Dear {name}:
Last week we took our message on the road giving presentations on just how college students majoring in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) are being impacted nonimmigrant visa programs like H-1B and employment authorization programs for foreign students like STEM optional practical training (OPT) and curricular practical training (CPT). We presented to the College Republican Clubs at Penn State University and University of Pittsburgh.
The reception at both campuses was phenomenal and we are looking forward to reaching out to more clubs on more campuses next semester. It was also a great experience to engage with and exchange ideas with these students. We learned a lot.
Today’s college students are an important group to reach out to for a number of reasons. They are tomorrow’s leaders and decision-makers; open to new ideas; and educated people exposed to diverse ideas tend to have a disproportionate influence on trends, social movements, and public discourse.
I also found myself basking in the energy, enthusiasm and eagerness to do more than just talk about issues. Yes, the country is in a bad spot at the moment and some of the challenges we are face are truly monumental and it can be easy to be pessimistic. But this road trip taught me to have faith and confidence in the young men and women who are willing and able to take up the challenge and get our Republic back on the right track.
Onward,

Kevin Lynn
