Dear {name},
Although we did not intend for our post on the U.S. Tech Workers X platform to go unnoticed when we published it in the early morning hours of Christmas Eve—concerning Sriram Krishnan's appointment to the Trump administration's Office of Science and Technology Policy—we could not have imagined that it would touch off a civil war pitting tech figures like Elon Musk and David Sacks against the MAGA base and lead to the self-immolation of Vivek Ramaswamy's political career.
The post itself received over 2.1 million views, largely because social media influencer Laura Loomer shared its concerns with her 1.4 million followers. This was just the beginning of a social media maelstrom that spilled over into mainstream media and lasted twelve long days.
On the bright side, millions of Americans are now better informed about how employment visas such as the H-1B and L-1, as well as employment authorization programs like STEM Optional Practical Training, are harming our white-collar and professional workers. Our @USTechWorkers posts garnered over 16 million impressions, leading to just under 1 million actual engagements during this three-week period.
Will this lead to actual and much-needed reform of our employment visa system? As President Trump takes office, legal immigration is just another piece of a much larger agenda that he and his administration will be pushing forward—one that will no doubt face headwinds from all areas of the political spectrum. But there is reason to be optimistic.
I believe the citizenry will unite behind a president who sincerely places the interests of Americans first.
In closing, I ask that you keep our Chairman, Steven Lamb, his family, and all the other thousands of Californians in your thoughts and prayers. Steve, a fifth-generation Altadena, California resident, lost his home to the fires last week.
Onward!
